Magaluf is practically united to Palmanova. Its coast stretches between Punta de Sa Porrassa and Cala Vinyes. It is the most international and well known from Calvià´s coastline. The name of Magaluf appeared documented for the first time as Magaluf ben Jusef in 1234, and according to some historians, hails from a Jewish name. During the 70´s, the housings were built, the so-called towers, which were taken as a stereotyped image of the balearization. However, very close from there, in its outskirts, is located one of the virgin spaces of the coast of Calvià: the cape of Cala Figuera. Crossing the golf course of Poniente, the route leads you through the wood to three little, almost virgin, beaches. Along the coast side the road passes a quite new urbanization called Cala Vinyas with its own little sand beach, until it takes you to Sol de Mallorca. There you find the unique casino of Majorca island. This residential area is lying close to the cliff line, but has a little marina westward. Two water parks and a cart track entertains the children.
